Arnold Junior School (3-11 years) is an integral part of Arnold School, with its own buildings and separate organisation.
The School houses a Kindergarten, Infant and Junior Departments.
Academic standards are high and progress is well monitored through the school. The majority of pupils proceed to the Senior School, passing the entrance examination at 11 years.
Music has a valued place in school life. Children have the opportunity to learn wind, string or brass instruments, playing in group ensembles or the Junior School Orchestra. There are two choirs and musical events are held each term. A Family Service is held each term on Sundays and the school's Carol Service is held in the Parish Church. The annual Arts Week gives pupils the opportunity to explore and enjoy an area of Arts education.
French is taught from the age of 5 years and an annual study visit to France is organised for older pupils.
The school competes successfully in local and regional sports activities - football, rugby, hockey, netball, cross-country, athletics, cricket and swimming.
There is a thriving programme of extra-curricular activities, including sport, chess, conservation and crafts. A wide variety of educational visits is offered, many taking advantage of the school's own outdoor pursuit centre in the Lake District.
The Arnold Summer School offers sporting and educational courses for children 5-15 years, July to August.
In our school we aim to provide a happy and caring environment where the individual child may flourish. We are proud of our academic standards but we also strive to give a broad and balanced education. Above all, we want our boys and girls to use their different gifts and to enjoy the success this brings.
